Health-Related Professions

Careers in health professions related to children require knowledge of child development, understanding of child health determinants, expertise in child/adolescent psychology, knowledge of US and global healthcare systems and policies, leadership skills, communication skills, collaboration across disciplines, and community involvement

Education

Careers in education require knowledge of the US educational system, child/adolescent development, literature for children and youth, cultural sensitivity, critical thinking skills, verbal and written communication skills, creativity, organization and teamwork.

 

Social Services

Careers in social services related to children require knowledge of child/adolescent development and child/adolescent psychology, family systems, knowledge of the history and development of the US child welfare system, cultural sensitivity, critical thinking skills, active listening skills, verbal and written communication skills, and empathy.
