
LUCY Mission
At LUCY Outreach we empower our youth on their journey to become community leaders by providing programs that offer a safe haven, and support their educational, social, emotional, and physical growth. LUCY offers multilingual, culturally- responsive services to Camden County youth and young adults, ages 7-28+, and their families, who have a low income. LUCY accepts and welcomes all youth to take part in educational, social, and service-oriented programming, and also provides support and resources within homes & schools.
About the internship
The intern will assist the Coordinator to develop, implement and supervise comprehensive and innovative youth programming, including exploring local presenters for youth specific topics, developing LGBTQ focused support groups, complete program evaluation/ reporting and support volunteer management. Hours are flexible to the intern’s schedule, with afternoon, evening and weekend shift availability. The majority of the internship will be completed on-site at LUCY, located in East Camden- a ten minute drive from Rutgers Camden, accessible via bus route and the Camden Loop.
Responsibilities may include:
- Implement and oversee youth clubs throughout the week on site at LUCY
- Participate in program evaluation and reporting including utilization of Salesforce for registrations, sign-ins, session notes, youth notes, and data tracking
- Plan & implement Youth Night evening programming (book speakers, develop curriculum)
- Assist with driving (trips) and dropoffs/pickups of youth as needed
- Attend staff meetings and assist in the evaluation of programs
- Assist with volunteer management (entering data, planning volunteer appreciation/celebratory events)
- Availability/flexibility during limited weekends to assist staff in trip/event chaperoning
- Marketing & recruitment to include coordination of social media accounts
Qualifications
- 1 year minimum experience with youth; ability to communicate with, supervise, and empower youth and young adults
- Knowledge and understanding of the challenges of Camden and the inner-city, and the relevant dynamics associated with these challenges
- Fingerprinting/background check & volunteer orientation completion
- Experience with program/event development and execution
- Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within families in crisis, as well as childhood trauma and trauma-informed care.
- Drivers license & ability to transport youth in company vans a plus!
- Management of large groups of youth
