PhD Workshop: June 15, 2020

Participants

The workshop will gather doctoral students who all work with children and young peoples’ consumption – in the broadest sense of the word.  To be admitted the students have to be enrolled in a PhD program.  Space is limited and a committee will select participants from the applications received.

Purpose

The purpose of the workshop will be to engage in dialogue about participants’ projects in a collegial atmosphere with knowledgable scholars in the field.  Participants will learn from faculty mentors and from each other regarding the various aspects of dissertation research on child and teen consumption including methodological and theoretical issues as well as practical concerns regarding writing, structuring time and the logisticis of research practice.

Organization

The workshop is an intensive one-day event.  It will be built around doctoral student presentations and comments by faculty mentors.  Each presentation will be commented on and discussed by peers and faculty.

The workshop will be lead by researchers within the field.  To be determined.

Participants are asked to write and circulate a short project description before the workshop and to relate their work to central texts in the field of child and teen consumption.

No Fee for participation in the PhD workshop which includes morning coffee, lunch and dinner.

Deadline for application: Extended to December 4, 2019.

PLEASE NOTE:  If your application for the PhD Workshop is accepted, you are committing to participate on Monday, June 15th at the Rutgers-Camden campus.

Space is limited.  If selected, participants agree to attend the Workshop on Monday, June 15, 2020 at the Rutgers-Camden campus. There is no fee for this workshop.

Applicants shoud be notified of a decision approximately one month after the deadline.
