Alumnus Dr. Martin Woodside interviews Robin Bernstein for history of childhood podcast

WoodsideHS-150x150Childhood Studies alumnus Dr. Martin Woodside (PhD, 2015) recently interviewed Robin Bernstein about her research on childhood and race in America for the Society of the History of Children and Youth’s podcast, Childhood: history & critique

Childhood: history & critique (CHC) is a multi-media series of interviews, essays, and reports on happenings in the historical study of childhood hosted by a team of scholars and edited by Dr. Patrick J. Ryan.  The series is published and circulated online by the Society for the History of Children and Youth.

Martin Woodside (PhD, Childhood Studies, 2015) has a background in Children’s Literature and Creative Writing and has published five books for young readers and a full-length collection of poetry. He spent 2009-10 as a Fulbright Fellow in Romania and has published two books of Romanian poetry in translation. He studies gender, popular culture, and Young Adult Literature, and his critical work has been published in Extravio and Otherness: Essays and Studies.  He anticipates the publication of This River Goes Both Ways, a book of original poetry, in the fall of 2015. Currently teaching in the Philadelphia area, he is working on a book manuscript based on dissertation research about narratives of boyhood and the frontier in the American West.
