Interns are needed to help run and support Watershed Education Programs for youth and free Environmental Education and Adventure programs for families. Discovery Pathways is a non-profit community run charity based in South Philadelphia. Our home base is in FDR Park in far south Philly, accessible by Public Transportation. Programs include free family fishing, community boating, birding, nature walks, and more.
As we expand our programs this year, we need interns to help teach and empower high school youth. We also need support in developing and streamlining our water testing and tracking program. In addition, interns would develop materials that will help urban families access local waterways and nature. In 2023, Discovery Pathways will be developing and disseminating print and digital flyers, maps, and guides in up to 5 languages. These will help empower local residents to learn about local parks, safe recreation, fishing licenses, and more. Interns should be willing to work with diverse families and have some experience with youth programming or environmental education and recreation.
Interning at Discovery Pathways:
- There are ample opportunities for interns to craft their experience to fit their skills and experience
- Work is primarily in person in South Philadelphia at FDR Park or other sites nearby. It is accessible by public transportation, but could be a journey
- Some remote work is needed in website updates and designs, flyer and sign design, spreadsheets, data tracking, and more
- Schedule is flexible. Some Saturdays would be necessary to help with community events, and some after school hours (such as 3-5pm) would be ideal.
