Maarit Alasuutari

Maarit Alasuutari is Professor of Early Childhood Education and Research Director of the Department of Education, University of Jyväskylä. Her field of study includes family studies and parenthood, parent-professional collaboration, childhood studies, early childhood education policy, and documentation in early education. Professor Alasuutari is specialized in qualitative research and especially in constructionist and discursive approaches. She has published widely nationally and internationally. For example, she has co-authored the book Assessment and Documentation in Early Childhood Education (Alasuutari, Markström and Vallberg-Roth, 2014) and co-edited the 2015 special issue of ‘Children & Society’ with Helga Kelle on documentation and childhood.
