Foundation
for Child Development Invites Proposals for PK-3
Research Small Grants Program
|
The
Foundation for Child Development (http://www.fcd-us.org/
) has announced a small grants program to be funded
through its PK-3
Research and Evaluation Forum.
The program has three major goals: to stimulate research that
spans early education and early elementary education to inform
PK-3 efforts across the United States; to foster multi- disciplinary
perspectives and build a field of research that examines
how children's education and home contexts influence developmental
outcomes from PK through at least third grade; and to increase
the use of datasets that can inform FCD's PK-3 initiative.
Researchers must use one or more datasets included in the PK-3
Data Resource Center: The First Six Years of Schooling and Beyond.
Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. or its equivalent in one of
the behavioral and social sciences or in an allied professional
field (e.g., public policy, public health, education, social work, nursing,
medicine.) Applicants must be U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents,
or those who have employment authorization from the Bureau of
Citizenship and Immigration Services for the duration of the grant.
Junior scholars are encouraged to apply. The program will provide
a maximum of four awards of up to $50,000 each. All funds are
to be used over a period from one to two years.

Sociology
The sponsor supports research on problems of human social organization,
demography, and processes of individual and institutional change. The
Program encourages theoretically focused empirical investigations
aimed at improving the explanation of fundamental social processes. Included
is research on organizations and organizational behavior, population
dynamics, social movements, social groups, labor force participation,
stratification and mobility, family, social networks, socialization,
gender roles, and the sociology of science and technology. |

Methodology,
Measurement and Statistics--Research on Survey and Statistical
Methodology
The
sponsor invites research proposals that further the development
of new and innovative approaches to surveys and to the analysis
of survey data. Although proposals submitted in response
to this announcement may address any aspect of survey methodology,
priority
will be given to basic research proposals that are interdisciplinary
in nature, have broad implications for the field in general,
and have the greatest potential for creating fundamental knowledge
of value to the Federal Statistical System. Because
methodological problems often require knowledge and expertise
from multiple disciplines, collaborations are especially encouraged
among the relevant sciences, including the social sciences,
linguistics, cognitive science, statistics, computer science,
and economics. |
